First reports of "Il Baluardo" date back to Municipal deeds of Celle Ligure in 1142, when the Casa Fortilizia Roglio was restored.
The fort was part of a system of warning and defense of the coasts from Saracen invaders, the structures communicated with each other through fire signals to alert the medieval fishing village that did not enjoy a wide view of the gulf towards West.
Over the centuries the construction has been modified adapting to changed needs, maintaining the impressive military characteristics and typical sighting towers.
The fort has been renovated respecting its story, trying to bring life back to a historical structure without betraying its spirit.
